"Monsha'at": 1.3 Million Small and Medium Enterprises in the Kingdom, Increasing by 3.1% Compared to the Third Quarter

The Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority "Monsha'at" has reported a 3.1% increase in the number of small and medium enterprises in the Kingdom by the end of 2023,, reaching 1.3 million enterprises, with the majority concentrated in the capital, Riyadh, at a rate of 43.7%, followed by the Makkah region at 18.1%. According to the Monsha'at “SME Monitor” report issued today, the size of micro-enterprises in the Kingdom reached 1,138,588, while the number of small enterprises in all regions of the Kingdom reached about 150,788, and medium enterprises exceeded 18,723. The report highlighted the most prominent information and figures related to the Riyadh region and the Diriyah governorate, and the great investment opportunities they offer to entrepreneurs. It also discussed the video games and esports sector in depth and the promising investment opportunities it offers to SME owners and entrepreneurs interested in this sector. The CEO of the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, Jerry Inzerillo, opened the report with a speech, emphasizing the efforts made by the Authority in partnership with "Monsha'at" through the Diriyah Entrepreneurship Initiative, aimed at supporting the skills of the next generation of Saudi entrepreneurs and contributing to preparing them to continue and celebrate the history of Diriyah. The Diriyah Gate Development Authority takes pride in its national role in driving the development process, and highlighting the historical status of the Kingdom and its rich heritage, by transforming its site listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List into a global cultural, touristic and heritage center. This project aspires to contribute SAR 70 billion to the Kingdom's GDP and provide more than 178,000 job opportunities, as well as enhance the Kingdom's position as a touristic and cultural destination. The report commends the efforts of entrepreneurs and SMEs in realizing these aspirations, continuing to innovate, and turning their dreams into successful projects. The report also covered the Riyadh region and highlighted figures and information of interest to investors and entrepreneurs, noting the capital's investment attractiveness due to its strong economy, making it the cornerstone of the national efforts to diversify the Kingdom's economy, develop the private sector, and empower entrepreneurs and SMEs. The capital hosts more than 571,000 enterprises and over 3 million employees in SMEs. The report included "Riyadh Expo 2030" as a model that holds promising opportunities for entrepreneurs, by focusing on areas that SMEs can benefit from, based on previous editions of the exhibition, especially enterprises that prioritize innovation, sustainability and creativity in line with the targets of Saudi Vision 2030. The value of investments allocated to transforming the city of Riyadh into one of the most sustainable cities by 2030 reached about SAR 345 billion. The Kingdom's investments in the gaming sector through the "Saavy" group of gaming companies owned by the Public Investment Fund amounted to 142.5 billion riyals, with expectations that the sector will contribute more than 48 billion riyals to the Kingdom's gross domestic product by 2030. The report discussed the "Monsha'at" accelerator for the gaming sector, which aims to support the field of technical developments to improve the quality of creative ideas for electronic games, in addition to establishing companies with high potential in the field of gaming and electronic sports, in line with the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030, to contribute to providing qualitative investment opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises in the gaming and electronic sports sector, with the support of a number of leading companies in the sector. It is worth noting that the "SME Monitor" report for the fourth quarter is part of a series of quarterly reports issued by "Monsha'at," which reviews the latest developments in the entrepreneurial environment and the latest figures and statistics. In the third quarter, the report addressed the Qassim region and its promising agricultural capabilities, in addition to a series of specialized reports issued periodically by "Monsha'at" on topics of interest to entrepreneurs in the Kingdom, including reports on effective communication and presentation style to investors, and social entrepreneurship, with the aim of providing a reliable reference for information and figures for entrepreneurs, investors, and interested parties.
