"Monsha'at" Concludes Production and Filmmaking Week in Partnership with the Film Commission
The Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority "Monsha’at" concluded the activities of the Production and Filmmaking Week in partnership with the Film Commission, as part of a series of business weeks at SMEs Support Centers in Riyadh, Jeddah, Medina and Al-Khobar. The week’s activities included workshops, entrepreneurial meetings, consultations and guidance with specialists and experts in various fields. The Production and Filmmaking Week aims to educate entrepreneurs about investment opportunities in the production and creation of Arabic content, animation and sound effects, in addition to introducing them to the services and programs provided by government, private and financing agencies supporting small and medium enterprises in the sector. During the week, more than 30 meetings and workshops were held, in addition to the participation of 40 government and private entities, and the number of registered beneficiaries of the week's activities reached more than 2900 beneficiaries of entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises. The CEO of the Film Commission, Eng. Abdullah Al-Qahtani, pointed to the role of the Commission in empowering Saudi talents in the sector by providing training programs and cultural scholarship programs. He also highlighted that the Commission serves as the first stop for any film aimed at being shot in the Kingdom. He noted that more than 10 Saudi films, mostly produced by SMEs, achieved sales exceeding 50 million Riyals. The Deputy Minister for Legal Affairs and Regulations at the Ministry of Culture, Assem Al-Tuwaijri, highlighted the Ministry’s role in improving legislation and legal procedures to enhance the quality of production in a number of aspects such as permits, protection and control of production rights, in addition to the Ministry's work to overcome the related challenges in the legal impact of local cinema production, which was related to the financial and logistical aspect through incentives and capacity-building programs. Deputy Minister of Investment Transactions, Saleh Al-Khabti, also spoke about the role of the Ministry in supporting entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises, in addition to working with partners in the Ministry of Culture to develop cultural sectors, particularly the film sector, which is one of the emerging industries. Through the organization of specialized weeks, "Monsha'at" is keen to continue its supportive role to open horizons for small and medium enterprises, by cooperating with all partners to provide opportunities for entrepreneurs, which will contribute to achieving the growth goals of small and medium enterprises, ensuring their sustainability and growth.
